"Utah girl, 14, shot in the head by teenage boys, leaves hospital after more than two months" (Daily Mail)

Deserae Turner, aged 14, was shot in the head by two teenage boys who she thought were here friends on the 17th of February 2017. The two boys apparently lured her to a remote spot and left her for dead in a ditch. She has declined to talk about the injuries or the circumstances of the attack. Deserae was reported missing by her parents after she didn't come home from school.

She was found by two women walking along the canal that evening. Initially th women assumes she was suffering from hypothermia before they found the gunshot wound at the back of her head.

Prosecutors have asked that the two teenage boys stand trial in an adult court however the case may remain in the juvenile court. If the case remains in the juvenile court then the maximum penalty the teens could receive is a stay in jail until they are 21.

This story represents age as it involves young teenagers in crime and it represents issues of the misuse of guns. I think that teenagers should not have any access to a gun as they are unresponsible and will misuse it. Fortunately, this girl survived a fatal injury.
